Who we are
We are a group of professionals who went through the Singapore education system, then furthered our studies at some of the top universities in the world, in Cambridge, Columbia, and NYU. Despite our educational background, transition to adult life came as a rude shock. We were woefully under-prepared for the rigours of the workplace, but eventually found our feet and established ourselves in our chosen careers.
The Problem
We soon realized that our experience was common among many of our peers – though not everyone managed to find their feet in the end. In our capacities as mentor figures, we have seen younger colleagues and students struggle because of the gap between their capabilities and workplace expectations, and their lack of maturity of thought, just as our younger selves did.
Our Solution
Perspectives aims to change all of this. Drawing on our collective experience, and buttressed with meticulous research, we crafted a programme centered on 4 essential skill set verticals: Presentation, Expression, Problem Solving, and Social Intelligence.
We aim to teach what many think of as un-teachable and un-learnable, so as to elevate students towards their educational and professional ambitions.
01 / Presentation
With the information overload in today’s world, ideas need to be presented logically, clearly, and convincingly to cut through the noise. Through our Presentation vertical, students will learn the fundamentals of crafting crystal-clear, well-argued, and compelling presentations to get any point across
03 / Social Intelligence
No man is an island, and the ability to work well with others is often dismissed as coming down to personality issues - we disagree. Through our Social Intelligence vertical, we educate students on the key tensions of different social dynamics, and equip them with the tools to create good impressions, solve interpersonal conflicts, and manage the complexities of group work
02 / Expression
Delivery is the difference between polite applause and a standing ovation. In our Expression vertical, we explore and reduce the intangible concept of ’flair’ into concrete steps and techniques which students can learn to use in everyday interactions
04 / Problem Solving
All the knowledge in the world is useless if it can’t be applied to solve real problems. In our Problem Solving vertical, we draw on our private sector experience to develop a step-by-step framework which students can apply to all problems, big or small
